How a wedding turned into a business (yes, really)
2016-2023:
I didn’t always create branding for small businesses…
Once upon a time, I was teaching Graphic Communication, Media, and Film Studies at a British secondary school - helping students analyse visuals and language, spot meaning, and turn ideas into something intentional (plus organising a questionable number of trips). Which, in hindsight, was very on brand.
Then I got married - and somewhere between designing the save the dates, obsessing over signage, and styling every last detail, something clicked. Creating my own work lit me up in a way I hadn’t felt in a while.
2023-2024
I realised that I loved the little details of storytelling: The 3 of clubs came from a moment years earlier on our first official date, when a magician at a cricket club somehow made a signed card disappear… and reappear.
The card stayed with us, resurfaced during wedding planning, and then became the symbol for our whole story. We loved it so much we even got matching tattoos in Vegas on our honeymoon. Romantic or slightly unhinged?
2024-Present
Now, from California (plot twist), I run Yours, by Wild - as a strategic, story-led freelance designer working with small businesses who want visuals that actually look and feel like them.
My husband Tom is the behind-the-scenes hero, self-proclaimed as “Director of Operations”, which means I get to focus on what I do best: untangling ideas, overthinking the details, and turning meaningful stories into bold, intentional brands.
Think of it like a well-directed film. Every choice has a reason. Every detail supports the story. And you’re always the main character.
